Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Fiix Asset Health powered by Augury?

Fiix Asset Health powered by Augury is an integrated predictive and prescriptive maintenance solution that combines Augury's AI-powered machine health monitoring with Fiix CMMS. Augury continuously monitors critical equipment using wireless vibration sensors and AI-powered analytics to detect developing equipment issues before failure occurs. When an issue is identified, it undergoes human verification by certified vibration analysts and then a work order is created in Fiix CMMS so that maintenance teams can execute the recommended repairs.

Is this a new Fiix CMMS feature?

No. This is a new integrated solution and strategic partnership that extends the capabilities of Fiix CMMS into predictive maintenance and machine health monitoring.

What problem does this solve?

In maintenance, people rely on preventive maintenance schedules or react only after equipment fails. This can lead to:

  • Unplanned downtime
  • Emergency repairs
  • Higher maintenance costs
  • Lost production
  • Inefficient use of maintenance resources

Fiix CMMS + Augury helps customers identify developing equipment issues earlier so maintenance can be planned before failures impact operations.

Does this replace Fiix CMMS?

No. Augury complements the maintenance capabilities of Fiix CMMS by providing machine health monitoring for rotating and other equipment.

How does the solution work?

  1. Augury installs wireless sensors on supported equipment
  2. Sensor data is continuously analyzed using AI and machine learning
  3. Certified vibration analysts validate detected issues
  4. A work order (WO) is created in Fiix CMMS
  5. Maintenance work is executed in Fiix CMMS using WOs
  6. Equipment health continues to be monitored after repairs

What equipment can be monitored?

Augury focuses on critical rotating equipment, including:

  • Motors
  • Pumps
  • Gearboxes
  • Fans
  • Blowers
  • Compressors
  • Chillers

Not every asset type is currently supported.

Are work orders automatically created?

Yes. When Fiix Asset Health identifies an actionable issue, a work order is automatically created in Fiix CMMS with the diagnosis and recommended action. Only "Alarm" and "Danger" health conditions generate work orders.

Does Augury simply notify customers of problems?

No. Augury provides:

  • AI-powered fault detection
  • Human validation from certified vibration analyst
  • Recommended corrective actions
  • Continuous monitoring after repairs

The solution is designed to help customers decide what maintenance should be performed, not just identify anomalies.

How does Fiix CMMS integrate with Augury?

Fiix CMMS serves as the maintenance execution platform. When a developing issue is identified, Fiix Asset Health creates a prioritized work order in Fiix CMMS with the diagnosis and recommended action. As work is completed, status updates flow back into the machine health workflow, creating a two-way, closed-loop process.

What makes this different from a typical machine health integration?

Fiix Asset Health uses a two-way, closed-loop integration. Machine health insights become prioritized work orders in Fiix CMMS, and maintenance updates flow back into the workflow so issues can be tracked through to resolution. This helps maintenance and reliability teams stay aligned without disconnected systems or manual handoffs.

How is this different from FT Optix?

FT Optix enables condition-based monitoring (CBM) by collecting and visualizing operational data from connected assets and sending that data to Fiix CMMS. Fiix Asset Health by Augury builds on that foundation by applying AI, machine learning and expert analysis to predict failures before they occur and recommend corrective actions.

Who installs the sensors?

Augury is responsible for hardware deployment and implementation.

Will my existing sensors work with Fiix Asset Health?

No. Currently, Fiix Asset Health requires Augury’s proprietary sensors to function. Three types of sensor are available: Augury Halo™ R4000 Series (opens in new tab) sensors for general use, ultra-low vibration sensors (opens in new tab), and sensors specially designed for hazardous environments (opens in new tab).

Can customers log into everything through Fiix CMMS?

Not today. Customers will continue to use both Fiix CMMS and Augury. Fiix CMMS handles maintenance planning and execution, while Augury provides machine health monitoring and recommendations. The two systems are integrated, and support for single sign-on (SSO) is planned for a future release.

What is the difference between Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) and Predictive Maintenance (PDM)?

CBM triggers maintenance when a monitored condition crosses a threshold (sensors, alarms, running hours).

PDM uses AI to predict a failure before it happens and recommend the fix, ideal for critical, high-value assets that require near-constant uptime.

When should I choose CBM over predictive maintenance?

Condition-based maintenance offers a fast and economical way to reduce your PM workload, but it typically gives you less reaction time on failing assets than predictive solutions. CBM is great for moderately critical assets whose failure thresholds are clearly defined and understood.

Why makes Augury's AI different?

Augury's models are trained using over 1.1 billion machine run hours, allowing the platform to recognize patterns associated with developing failures across a broad range of industrial equipment. Machine learning is combined with expert review from certified vibration analysts before recommendations are delivered to customers.

Is this just AI making decisions?

No. Augury combines AI with human expertise. Certified CAT III vibration analysts review and validate machine health findings before customers receive recommendations.
